Site information
Privacy Policy
Revealing Reality is designed as a publication, not a data-collection service. This policy describes the site as it operates today.
Information the journal collects
The publisher does not currently offer reader accounts, comments, subscriptions, purchases, or a newsletter, and does not use advertising or audience-analytics tools. Readers may submit an anonymous reaction to an essay or Short Take. The reaction includes one overall choice and, if the reader wishes, up to three listed reasons. The form does not request a name, email address, or written comment.
Reader reactions and abuse prevention
To limit each browser to one reaction per article while allowing that reaction to be changed, the site assigns a random first-party identifier and stores only a cryptographic representation of it with the response. The site does not use that identifier to follow readers across other websites.
Before a response is accepted, ALTCHA asks the reader’s browser to complete a small proof-of-work calculation. The verification software is served by Revealing Reality rather than a third-party CAPTCHA provider. For rate limiting, the site uses a one-way cryptographic representation of limited network information; it does not place the reader’s raw IP address in the reaction database. Detailed reason selections are available privately to the publisher. The public sees only the total for each of the five overall choices, and only after submitting a response.
Technical information
As with any website, a request for a page necessarily transmits technical information such as an IP address, browser and device information, the requested address, and the time of the request to the systems that deliver and secure the site. The site’s hosting and security providers may process that information to serve pages, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with law. The publisher does not currently receive an individual-reader analytics dashboard or use this technical information to create reader profiles.
Links to other websites
Articles may link to courts, government records, publishers, news organizations, and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which Revealing Reality does not control.
Changes
If the journal later adds analytics, comments, a newsletter, donations, or another interactive service, this policy will be revised before or when that feature is introduced.
Effective September 17, 2026.
