Editorial practice

Sources & method

The aim is to make the evidentiary path visible enough that readers can inspect it for themselves.

Primary sources first

Legal and historical essays link to statutes, judicial opinions, speeches, contemporary pamphlets, official records, and archival documents when they are available online. Selected scholarship is provided for interpretation and context.

Quotation practice

Quotations are attributed as specifically as available evidence permits. Where wording, translation, date, or provenance remains uncertain, the uncertainty should be stated rather than concealed.

Argument and counterargument

Essays distinguish documented facts from interpretation. Serious counterarguments and important limits should appear in the article itself, especially when analogy connects different historical periods.

Draft status

Some long-form work may be published as a draft while research and editing continue. A draft label signals that the argument remains open to correction and refinement.
